So that’s it over for another year. I trust you all had a good Christmas, and like me, you’re now looking forward to Boxing day football – it’s Millwall up at Carrow Road, with kick-off in a couple of hours time.
Having spent a few days out of the country, my updates on all things City was sparse. In fact I heard nothing, so on my return I checked up on the latest news. I discovered;
LET IT SNOW….
City’s training had been hampered by all the snow that has descended on the county – and country for that matter – with Lambert stating that despite the indoor facilities, certain players were not able to train on it due to risk of injury. What a bit of cold weather can do hey.
TOP TWO FINISH COME MAY…
Lambert pointing out a top two finish is vital – he’s right. No-one really wants to face the lottery of the play-offs. Sure we’ll take it if we have to but in really a top two finish is what we have to aim for. I have PMT City fans – Postive Mental Thoughts! Can we do it? Yes we can!!
PRAISE FOR LITTLE & LARGE…
Not Syd and Eddie, but our very own Fraser Forster and Wes Hoolahan – you can tell which is which of course. Lambert was quick to praise the contribution of both players after the 3-0 against the Terriers. Forster made an outstanding save to keep the scores at 0-0, and one to add to his ever growing collection, whilst Wes Hoolahan opened the scoring with a finely taken strike. Both players have been exceptional of late and long may it continue.

Incase you’re unsure which one is which….
AUSSIE HEADING BACK DOWN UNDER?…..
Reports that Michael Theoklitos is heading back to Oz appear to be unfounded, with mentioned suitors, A-League Club, Melbourne Heart, denying any contact with the player. Shame really. Harsh at it may be, the ‘keeper appears to have no future at the club, so the sooner he finds a club that want him the better for both parties.
GOOD WEEK FOR THE CAPTAIN…..
Captaining the side to a 3-0 win against fellow promotion rivals; openly admitting life could not be sweeter for him at present; being nominated for the PFA Player of the Month Award for December – it’s been a good week for Grant Holt. Merry Christmas fella!

Life is good for our Captain at present…
TRANSFER WINDOW VITAL FOR PROMOTION PUSH
Lambert admits he will be looking to do business in the January transfer window. The Scot has gone so far as to admit he has drawn up a list of potential targets, but will not be revealing any names just yet. I would imagine another central defender might be on the cards, maybe a striker? I wouldn’t be surprised to see another forward come in and potentially Jamie Cureton go out on loan. It’s just hunch, but feel Cureton may be desperate to get some first team football. Anyway, who knows the Lambert plan. We shall see in the New year…
HE’S GOT THE MIDAS TOUCH…
Cody McDonald says Lambert commands complete respect for the City players, saying, “He’s been there, done it all and is just trying to rub it off on us now.” Yes, but has he got the t-shirt? Mmm yes, probably…

He’s the man…even the players say so
DOC TAKING AN INFORCED REST…
Perhaps the news that concerned me most was the loss of the Doc for the Millwall game. It hadn’t occurred to me he’d earn himself a suspension, after picking up his fifth booking of the season against Huddersfield. It’s a real shame, not only was the Doc in mist of a hot goal-scoring streak, but he has been outstanding in the centre of defence. With him missing, Askou injured, it leaves Michael Nelson and A.N Other as choice to face the Lions. Lambert may decided to tinker – both Drury and Lappin have filled in at centre-half, although ideally for me, they would not be sacrificed. Otherwise, it’s a puzzler – will Lambert bring in one of the young lads – David Stephens perhaps? I’m not sure he’ll take that risk. I’ll certainly be interested to see Lambert’s choice. It’s important decision too – Millwall scored 4 against Charlton last week – so we will need to be solid at the back to ensure their goal-scoring exploits do not continue against us.
And that was it – a week’s gossip from the City. All that’s left for me to say is, enjoy yourselves today City fans – here’s wishing for three points!
Come on City – Let’s Be ‘Avin You!!

As to the team, I think I would give the lad from Swindon a run ot. Drop lappin into left back and Drury as centre half. We could do with a liuttle more width
