Have City got the ‘bouncebackability’ factor?

Chris Martin – ‘Let’s start a new run’

I couldn’t have put it better myself.

For in the wake of our first defeat since October, I know I’m certainly not hovering my hand over the panic button. Monday morning always brings City chat with like-minded collegaues of mine, and we were all very much in the same mind-set; It’s a blip, it was likely to happen, let’s move on and forget about it.

Now, it’s all about the bounce back ability. (Ahh you gotta love Ian Dowie. Or not actually.)

Chris Martin is certainly looking to start again, and is already talking up next Saturday’s game at Brighton;

“We have to make sure we show character and give it everything we’ve got…..there is a enough fight and spirit and doggedness in there, and enough quality out there to go on and win on Saturday.”

Positive talk from the youngster, who will be looking forward to the return of Grant Holt to the side on Saturday. The Beccles lad has handled the extra responsibility well in the Captain’s absence, and says it will stand him in good stead for the remainder of the season, but there’s no doubt Holt was missed, none more so than on Saturday, where is work-man presence would’ve made a difference.

Russell Martin, (no relation, just coincidence) meanwhile says City cannot afford a ‘wobble’ and must make sure they do not lose back-to-back fixtures.

“There’s a lot of games to come before the end of the season, and people think we’re going to run away with it, but it doesn’t work out like that.”

I think it’s safe to say by ‘people’ he wasn’t referring to City fans. We of course know better.

So whilst City talk the talk, what really matters is walking the walk at the Withdean Stadium on Saturday. Come on City!!!
