Rupert Murdoch. He’s the guy that was responsible for bringing Sky TV to our screens in 1989 remember? He’s a guy who has been s a major investor in the film industry and internet during the past decade and boasts a fortune of around 5 billion dollars to his name.
He’s also the guy who was responsible for bringing Stephen Elliott to Carrow Road this month.

In theory at least, after it was revealed that City funded the striker’s loan move from Preston, with the money they received from the recent compensation payout from Murdoch’s News of the World. The Sunday newspaper had dared claim City were the next club verging on the brink of administration. City weren’t of course. (It was Palace in case you’re wondering…)
City took action, and with it collected a tidy six-figure sum from the News Corporation. The club won’t tell us how much exactly, suffice to say it is enough to fund Elliott’s loan move from Deepdale until the end of the season.
And after Elliott’s two goals against Huddersfield left us seven points clear at the top of League One, I’d say it was money well spent. Cheers Rupert!
