League One: City fight their way to the top

Saturday 23rd January

LEAGUE ONE: NORWICH CITY 1 – BRENTFORD 0

(Goal: Martin 77)

“We are top of the league, say we are top of the league…..”

Ok - I fully appreciate it might not be for long…but that’s why I thought I’d get it in now – enjoy it whilst it lasts!

Despite the sending off of captain, Grant Holt, City fought their way to an incredible victory at Carrow Road yesterday afternoon, courtesy of Chris Martins 77th minute strike. The win saw City draw level on points with Leeds, and with a superior goal difference, it means City are currently heading the League One pack, albeit having played two games more. It’s definitely good times at NCFC right now! (Despite what the journalists at the News of the World think – although I’ll have more on that later.) (more…)

League One: Five-Star City sink the ‘U’ boat

LEAGUE ONE: COLCHESTER 0 – NORWICH 5

And there was me settling for a draw before kick-off…..

Wooahhh!! I am a very happy girl tonight! What an absolutely fantastic day for us City fans. Not only did we beat our East Anglian rivals by 5, that’s FIVE, goals to nada, but we also made ground on Leeds, who lost for only the second time this season against Exeter. Could our day have been any better?! (Well, Charlton could’ve made it perfect by failing to score a second at Wycombe, but hey, let’s not complain too much!)

I fear in my euphoric state, I may end up writing a load of dribble (no pun intended) but will try to stay composed as I round up today’s performance.

LEAGUE ONE: WYCOMBE 0 – NORWICH 1

(Goals: Smith 77)

A sole-strike from youngster Korey Smith at Adams Park this afternoon, mean City now start the year in second place. Welcome to 2010 City fans!

It was relief for City, who dominated proceedings against lowly Wycombe, but found Wanderer’s ‘keeper, Scott Shearer, in inspired form – Wycombe’s number 1 rightly given man of the match for his efforts.

Still this City side are made of stronger stuff, with a never-say-die attitude that is ensuring they give themselves the best possible chance of a return to Championship football. (more…)

LEAGUE ONE: NORWICH CITY 2 – MILLWALL 0

(Goals: Hoolahan 28, Holt 68)

Well that was the Christmas present us City fans wanted! What potentially could’ve been a tricky fixture, proved in the end to be a comfortable win against a battling Miillwall side. A big win it was too – the gap to second-placed Charlton has now been narrowed to just two points. (more…)

A City Christmas…..

December 25th, 2009 · 1 Comment

So that’s it over for another year. I trust you all had a good Christmas, and like me, you’re now looking forward to Boxing day football – it’s Millwall up at Carrow Road, with kick-off in a couple of hours time.

Having spent a few days out of the country, my updates on all things City was sparse. In fact I heard nothing, so on my return I checked up on the latest news. I discovered;

LET IT SNOW….

City’s training had been hampered by all the snow that has descended on the county – and country for that matter – with Lambert stating that despite the indoor facilities, certain players were not able to train on it due to risk of injury. What a bit of cold weather can do hey.

TOP TWO FINISH COME MAY…

Lambert pointing out a top two finish is vital – he’s right. No-one really wants to face the lottery of the play-offs. Sure we’ll take it if we have to but in really a top two finish is what we have to aim for. I have PMT City fans – Postive Mental Thoughts! Can we do it? Yes we can!! (more…)
