LEAGUE ONE: NORWICH 3 – HUDDERSFIELD 0
(Goals: Hoolahan 57, Martin 74, Doherty 79)
Three goals, three points, third place……Merry Christmas City fans!
I’ve finally managed to warm my fingers up after a chilly afternoon at Carrow Road (forgetting my gloves did little to help that) so here’s my thoughts on yet another home win for City.
TEAM CITY
Lambert named the same team that started against Southampton in the JPT. For me it was a surprise Tom Adeyemi was preferred to Stephen Hughes, but as for the others it was a given, although the absence of Askou through injury worried me some what. He really has developed an understanding with Doherty, and no disrespect to Michael Nelson, but we don’t look as solid when he is in the side. Nelson for me, lacks the composure and assurance needed at crucial times in a game. Whether or not it’s down to lack of games, I don’t know, but for me it was a slight concern before kick-off.
As of this morning, both teams were leading the table for goals scored in the country, 45 goals in 21 games. So, what for a 0-0 anyone? (more…)

SATURDAY 5TH DECEMBER 2009
LEAGUE ONE: NORWICH CITY 2 – OLDHAM 0
(Goals: City: Holt 21, Hoolahan 32)
Two games, two wins, two clean sheets, five goals. It’s been a great week for the Canaries.
This time last week we were smarting from a defeat by Carlisle, which saw us exit the FA Cup before the third round. What a response by City then, that they bounced back in emphatic style and now sit third in the league. (more…)

FA Cup First Round: Paulton Rovers 0 – Norwich 7
As you may or may not be aware, we overcame the potential banana skin that was Paulton Rovers in the first round of the FA Cup, in rather emphatic style on Saturday. 7-0 to be precise (that’s SEVEN,) against the team from the Zamaretto League Division One South and West.
It was one of those games where we were never really going to come out with too much credit and praise. Win by a south-west country mile, as we did, well – that was expected of us wasn’t it? Had we have lost – which is what everyone bar the City fans wanted to see – and it would’ve been ridiculous; the biggest shock of all time in the FA Cup. Unfotunately, ITV didn’t get their preferred outcome, but it was an entertaining game which I think any neutral armchair viewers would’ve enjoyed. (more…)

Saturday 31st October
LEAGUE ONE: Stockport County 1 – Norwich City 3
(Goals: County, Thompson 81; City: Holt 16 & 90, Hoolahan pen 67)
No scares for City this afternoon as two goals by Captain Holt either side of a Wes Hoolahan penalty gave City all three points at Edgeley Park.
That’s now five wins in six for the Canaries. Whisper it, but things are going really rather well at Carrow Road at present.

CARLISLE UNITED 0 – NORWICH CITY 1
(Goal; City: Wes Hoolahan 41 mins)
Saturday 10th October 2009 – Brunton Park – Kick-Off 3pm
Well that was worth the near 600-mile round trip wasn’t it?!! A win, a clean sheet, and a place in the top six - life couldn’t be much better for a City fan right now. (Well…it could, but let’s not go getting all pedantic about it….steady as they go and all that.)
“It’s a really hard place to come, and I thought we were excellent..” – Lambert
The victory against Carlisle was one you would call hard-fought. Not necessarily the free-flowing football of late, but the sort of game we are going to have to win to get out of this division. Lambert is right to show his delight at how hard the lads are working right now. A few weeks ago we might not have had the stomach for it – now it seems we’re willing and able to get down to the nitty gritty.
